SHORT STORY- MALAWI'S CHITENJE

Image
SHORT STORY BY MATILDA PHIRI MALAWI’S CHITENJE I have always doubted the power of Malawi’s Chitenje.   I never believed that in order, to impress a real Malawian lady you need to buy her a Chitenje. I and most boys of nowadays have stopped respecting our culture. We no longer care or fear breaking cultural rules and its consequences. It has been two years for me since I attended a funeral in my area. I have heard that in the past, this would not have happened because I would be tied with a string to a big tree waiting to be untied after the burial has happened. This was news to me. I laughed and shouted at the same time; “What the hell!? I would definitely sue the chief if he does that to me!’’ That was my straight word. “After all, we are in democracy. I have a right to attend any funeral or not.” But I was very wrong. I’m a University graduate of Political Science and divorced. I am working at a certain organisation as a democracy expert. I live in Blantyre City with my young

A Must Read-Good News of Jesus

*NOVEMBER MONTHLY PRAYER MEETING* *Date*: 5 Nov. 2022 *Speaker*: Ps. June Lutwama *Theme*: Ex.15:2-3 _Intro_ What happened at the Red Sea was just a fulfillment of what God has started a long time ago. He had promised Abraham that he would be a father of nations. He also informed him that his descendants would become slaves. It was not a mistake, God had foretold it hundreds of years ago. 📖 Gen.15:13-14 A lot of times we think that the things that happen in our lives are a mistake, that they surprise God. Our God knows the end from the beginning, He knows about what you are going through. He understands it. 📖 Ps.23:4 Life is about battles but God will help us to win. The trials in our lives are there to build our faith. 📖 Jas.1:2-4 📌 This story begins with Joseph being taken to Egypt as a slave. When he eventually reunites with his brothers he says that God had meant it all for good. 🔥 Some of the tribulations we are facing are not about us or for us! 📌 After Joseph goes through

If You Don't Believe in God's Existence See This

Image
If You Don’t Believe in God’s Existence See This A lot of people believe in God’s or Allah’s existence and that is why they go to churches and mosques but still some do not believe he exists. This is very unfortunate because some unique things found on earth show that a creator exist and truly looks out for us and really loves and cares for us all. I find this amazing and true sign to show that we were not found here accidentally and not on our own but somewhere a supreme being exist. A Coconut fruit, it is white inside with water. What God did was to leave a small part where we can make a hole for coconut water to come out easily as hard as it is. He managed to put that small hole for us. Do you still not believe his existence? Is this not a big sign enough to show that we have a God somewhere? I have never seen this kind of love before, someone making a small hole in a hard fruit for easy extracting of juice. And the fruit juice or coconut water has so many good health bene

REWARD FOR WRITERS

Image
REWARD FOR WRITERS Malawian Writers from left, Matilda Phiri, Luckier Chikopa, Alfred Msadala and James Ng'ombe at Mibawa Television in Malawi, By Matilda Phiri. I would like to concur with the late D.D Phiri's article on "Rewards for Writers," which appeared in the Daily Times on November 7, 2018. May his soul rest in peace forever! The late DD Phiri talked about how writers are wonderful members of society who protect history, culture, and status. Without writers who recorded the teachings of Israel's prophets, including Jesus, the Christian religion as we know it today would have suffered greatly. He added that it is past time for businesses and sponsors to pay closer attention to both the nation's fiction and nonfiction writers. Even though they continually let us down, our football and netball friends have a large number of sponsors who show up to support them every day. They also receive support from the Sports Council, but writers do not receiv

The Fear File Female Witch

Image
The Fear File Female Witch  By Matilda Phiri The Fear File is a Television program from India where they show true life stories of people who have experienced extra ordinary activities from the spiritual world and magic things. It is a horror TV program which you cannot watch alone at night. I have watched a couple of them but this one got my attention a lot. I was speechless, furious and full of questions without answers. I saw that Satan and his servants are crazy creatures and very evil indeed. You cannot trust Satan and evil at all cost. Do not try to cover any evil or protect it because it will do you harm. I would recommend this to those who do not believe in witches and wizards you need to watch this. Please find the link below to watch. The Fear file which got me mad was about this Toni witch who was killing people in some Indian village and the people knew that it was her. They caught her and wanted to burn her. Some new policeman from town who was posted to that village fou

Malawi's President Promotes Arts

Image
MALAWI’S PRESIDENT PROMOTES ARTS It is good to note that our president is promoting and appreciating arts in the country. Malawi as a country is far much behind in the Arts sector. We do not have a lot movies to offer internationally like our friends do in Nigeria, South Africa, etc. because we do not get much support from the government as compared to other countries.   As of late, trending pictures surfaced on social media pages of a Malawian UK-based standup comedian Dalitso Chaponda at the State House with Malawi’s President Dr Lazarus Chakwera. Of course Dalitso was with his colleague, a Ugandan comedian, Patrick Salvado. This was something major as he confirmed through his Facebook page that he was indeed invited at the State House by the president to encourage him in his career as he was putting Malawi on the map. Dalitso is one of the greatest comedians we have ever had in Malawi who has also gone popular internationally. His standup sets are unique and very comical. H
